Right, this is the before process, in other words the boring bit. You are about to embark on a journey into the wonderful world of adopting a pet. Hopefully we can help you along the way.
Owning a pet is a long term commitment, so the time spent on research will be time well spent. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. I know it sounds like you are back at school but it's important, for you and for your future best friend.
Don’t you be in denial too. When you AdoptaPet you take on responsibility of another living creature so make sure you're ready for the commitment it involves.
I guarantee that your new found friend will delight you, charm you and totally frustrate you but pet adoption has its rewards, this is a companion will always accept you exactly as you are -even first thing in the morning.
Once you have made a decision on dog vs cat or something smaller we have more info on these to help you in your selection process.
This leads us to exotic pets. These pets must be researched carefully as they need very specific care. Our stand point on this subject is don't do it. It is bad for the animals. The death rate in the trafficking of these animals is appalling.
Many people who take these animals on as pets into their home have no idea what they are letting themselves in for and a large percentage of them do not know what to do with the animal once it has grown.
We have included some basic information on a few of the more common exotic animals that are kept as pets such as bunnies and guinea pigs.
There are a lot of pet rescue centres that have these pets for adoption. If you are looking to AdoptaPet from this group please take a look at our Crazy Critters page for some guidance.
Ok let's get off the soapbox and get on with the job at hand.
